Low Fat Air Fryer Recipes

Please check back here regularly for air fryer recipes, or add your own recipes for others to try.

There are many people who are put off hot air fryers as they think they can only do chips in them! Oh how wrong………. If you have poked around this site, you will have already seen the Chicken Tikka Masala video so basically, all you need is a little imagination to adapt some (but not all) of your favourite recipes. Of course there will be some that just won’t work because of the design of the fryers, but I’m sure you will be able to come up with many delicious ideas.

Use even less oil in your chips!

Hot Air Frying

If you want to get rid of even more oil when cooking your chips, try just spraying them with fry-light or similar. This is only one calorie per spray!

If you are familiar with the Slimming World diet, they advocate parboiling chunky chips and then putting them on a tray, spraying them with oil and turning them over half way thru cooking. You can do these in the Actifry or Philips Airfryer without parboiling or turning over (still need to shake the pan halfway through in the Philips though).

Don’t forget your roast potato and parsnips in the Actifry as well…  Oh Yes, if you freeze your own Yorkshire puddings or buy them ready frozen, you can throw them in your Philips Air Fryer for a couple of minutes instead of putting the oven on. Give them the usually shake and watch you don’t over do them – it’s quick!

Give this a try in your air fryer today and see what you think!

Stir Fry With Actifry

Variations on Chips and Wedges

You can jazz up your chips and wedges with the simple addition of some extras.

Try crumbling an oxo cube (any flavour) in the oil before you pour it over.

Or, add any of the following to the oil to vary the taste.

Crushed garlic
tsp mixed dried herbs
tsp paprika
tsp cracked black pepper

More Ways To Lower Fat In Your Diet In Addition To Low Fat Air Fryers

Using a low fat air fryer is not the only way to cook lower-calorie and lower-fat diet meals. For example, by increasing the amount of spices and flavoring you use, will help you feel more satisfied with less food. If you get a variety of tastes in your meal, you won’t feel as deprived as if you are eating bland low-fat foods.

When considering nutrition, it is important that you incorporate foods that you love because there is no better way to get nutrition than when you are enjoying it. There are many ways that you can add extra nutritional benefits to foods you love simply by adding in or leaving out key ingredients. Searching for low fat recipes will provide many good results.

When considering a diet that provides an adequate nutrition level, understand that not all healthy sounding foods are as healthy as you might believe. Depending on the cut, ground turkey may contain nearly as much fat as ground beef. When shopping for meats, always look for the lean or low fat variants.

When considering a diet that provides an adequate nutrition level, be sure to include low fat milk. Milk provides many nutrients – including calcium and protein – that the body needs. Studies have shown that drinking milk does benefit both muscle growth, and also the body’s ability to maintain a healthy body fat content.

Try to eat a varied diet which includes lean meat, fish, nuts, low-fat dairy products, whole grains and an assortment of different fruits and vegetables. By consuming lots of different foods, you can be sure that you are getting all of the nutrients that your body needs and you will not have to buy expensive supplements.

Make sure to start each day by eating a nutritious breakfast. This is the most important meal of the day and is much needed fuel to begin the day. Try eating items like oatmeal, low-fat yogurt, smoothies, whole grain toast, whole grain waffles and lean meats. This will not keep you full, but will help keep you full until your next meal.

When choosing high-protein foods, which are low fat, choosing the protein is as important as how you prepare it. Some cooking methods can turn a potentially healthy, low-fat protein into a high-fat meal. If not using your air fryer, grill or bake your proteins for the lowest fat content. If you fry or add heavy sauces, your low-fat protein is no longer low-fat.

Instead of snacking on sweet items like cookies and ice cream, try their healthier counterparts. replace cookies with items like granola, oatmeal and cereal and fruit bars. For ice cream, try going with low-fat or non-fat yogurt. These options not only taste better than the unhealthier ones, but you get nutrients like iron, calcium, fiber and much more in your diet.

While low far air fryers are great for certain things (like chips!), man can not live on chips alone…… you do have to make other adjustments for health and weight loss reasons.

Recommended Useful Items For Your Air Fryer

There are other useful and simple gadgets that work will with your air fryer, which ever model you own. Here are our recommendations based on current reviews. As the Tefal Actifry has been around for longer, we have included links for the spare parts that are most in demand as well.

Not ever one wants square sided chips so this handy and cheap little item is a useful additional to your kitchen. It does just what you’d expect but requires a bit of an effort to push through so not for the weak wristed! Stainless steel construction with a black handle.

Kitchen Craft Potato Chipper £10.45

Cutting chips is boring and to get the most evenly cooked chips or fries a chipper will do the job effectively for you. You could also use it for carrots and other root veg on the slim fries setting if you want which makes it more versatile and more of an excuse to get it! Does just what you expect it to do and as it is currently reduced from £15.95 it is probably a good investment.

Elgento White Potato Peeler £20.82

Now if you just don’t want to stand at the sink peeling potatoes, and particularly if you often have to peel large quantities at a time – what about getting a potato peeler? Peels up to 1KG of potatoes and has a see through lockable lid, salad sling to remove water, integrated cord & plug storage, rubber feet for a more stable base.  White in colour and now reduced from £29.99.

OXO Good Grips Y Peeler £3.99

This ‘Y’ Shape Peeler by Good Grips is ideal for peeling fruit and vegetables. Its swivel head allows it to neatly peel produce of varying sizes and shapes as well as slice thin ribbons of Parmesan cheese too. Non slip rubber handle and sharp stainless steel blade. Tefal Actifry Lid far from cheap, but now reduced to £29.87 from £43.36 but much cheaper than buying a new machine!

Blade For Tefal ACTIFRY Air Fryer – Again sounds expensive at £25.99 but now reduced to £20.73… but if you need one….
